Read: Jim Schoenfeld Gives A Chris Kreider Update

KreiderIn 25 games with the Whale, Chris Kreider had four goals and six assists with 52 shots on goal and 45 penalty minutes.

In eight December games, Kreider has ZERO points, is a minus two and has 12 shots on goal.

Kreider is ranked 46th in rookie scoring in the AHL.

Jim Schoenfeld explained Kreider’s first half of the season at Blueshirts United.

He said, “It has been a little more difficult than I think he would have expected. He is learning. He is a good offensive player, strength speed and a very good shot. When he is on the ice at a lower level he can have his way and his speed can help him make up for mistakes. Now he is playing against smarter individuals, guys who are faster, highly skilled and you don’t have that time to recover if you make a mental mistake. He is going through the process, Kenny has spent a lot of time with Chris and he is hungry to learn. It is part of the process of learning. He is taking in a lot of information and hockey is a game of reaction and if you are caught out there thinking you are too slow to make the right reaction. I think it will sink in and I think he will have a tremendous second half. The fans don’t have to worry about his numbers.

In the latest issue of The Hockey News, with Bobby Orr on the cover, they write that the only people pressing the panic button on Kreider are Ranger fans and not Ranger management. They write “the Rangers are content to let Kreider work out his kinks in CT and confident he’ll be NHL-ready when the big league returns to play.”
