In the NY Post, Larry Brooks writes that the Rangers WILL NOT trade Chris Kreider or Ryan McDonagh to Columbus for Rick Nash.
He calls them “negotiation stoppers” and even adds 22 year old center Derek Stepan into that category.
In a poll where readers could select up to three Rangers that they would consider untouchable, Chris Kreider finished first with 31.04%, Ryan McDonagh had 29.62% of the vote and Derek Stepan, along with Carl Hagelin, tied with 5.11% of the vote. Marc Staal and Dan Girardi finished with 7.7% and 13.53%.
Carp at Rangers Report writes that he isn’t sure he would hold up a deal for Nash just because of Stepan. He writes, “I mean, no doubt they’d rather get it done without Stepan (and they’d rather not give up Michael Del Zotto, too). Yet I don’t think at the drop-dead midnight moment of Columbus’ trade of Nash, Stepan or Del Zotto would be a deal-breaker for the Rangers. Maybe they would.”
