Read: Rick Nash Is Finally Going To Be Challenged
At Puck Rakers Aaron Portzline writes that one of the main issues that faced Rick Nash in Columbus is that following the dismissal of Ken Hitchcock as head coach, Nash wasn’t being pushed enough and his game suffered.
He writes “Because Nash was the only star on Nationwide, there was level of deference paid him that was out of whack. Hitchcock had the credentials and the confidence to crack the whip. Remember how quickly Nash ended up on the penalty kill when Hitchcock took over? When Hitch was fired, nobody left could challenge the captain, allowing him to rest on his laurels. Call that a character flaw if you wish, but we all need a kick in the rear sometimes. That’s just human nature.”
Last season on MSG Henrik Lundqvist said this about the Rangers
