Read: Michael Del Zotto Is Glad He Is In Camp/Will Have To Work For A Long-Term Deal

On Sunday morning, Michael Del Zotto signed his new contract with the Rangers only hours before training camp because after being off for our months, Del Zotto didn’t want to miss one second more.

When asked about how important it was to have Del Zotto in camp, John Tortorella said “Michael played very well for us last year and at such a young age, you miss a minute of camp, it’s a bad thing. We’re very happy he hasn’t missed a minute. He’s looked very good the past few days, even prior to today. Going over and playing in Europe, he was involved in quite a bit of conditioning over there. He has skated very well. So I’m glad we didn’t have a hiccup there and he’s part of us.”

Del Zotto’s contract is for two seasons and with a cap hit of $2.55 million per season and Glen Sather told The Record, that he wants to make sure that Del Zotto proves to be the player they think he is before giving him a longer-term deal.
