At ESPN Insider, Craig Custance writes that JT Miller is one of his names to know and thinks that he could make an impact if/when training camp starts.
Custance writes that Miller impressed scouts last year with his play in the Traverse City tournament and “his responsible two-way game will appeal to Tortorella.”
Custance adds that the Rangers adding Miller to the taxi squad following the Whale’s elimination in the playoffs could pay off big time.
Assistant GM Jeff Gorton said at the time that the lessons a guy like Miller could pick up being around the team during the playoffs is something that can’t be replicated.
Gorton said recently to the Rangers website: that Miller will decide where he plays this season, “We are going to bring him to CT and see how he does. If he is ready to play at that level we will keep him. If he isn’t we will return him to Plymouth. It will be up to JT and it’s a bigger jump than people realize. It’s going to be a tough league.”
