Read: Don Cherry Implies That The Rangers Are Soft
Last night on CBC, Don Cherry said “You are never going to win like you did last year with a team like this.
He adds “you can’t have your guys run like that. No one has any fear of the NY Rangers anymore. You can’t have your superstars run. “
Cherry then said that the Rangers “gave away” Brandon Prust and they are now an easy club to play against.
At Rangers Report, Carp writes “that team last year would never have had a game like this, where they didn’t at least push back, pay back, stir the pot, give the opponent something to think about. That team would never have gone so peacefully and lamely. These Rangers haven’t been nasty at all. There is no reaction when a teammate gets drilled. They’ve had, what, two legit fights that weren’t those stupid staged fiascos? They are easy to play against. That has to change.”
Cherry also talked about how the Rangers are not fighting as much as last year when they were first in the league.
Right now the Rangers have nine fights on the season and are 19th in the league.
The Rangers are third in the league in hits.
Andrew Gross wrote about this at Ranger Rants and said, “where was any physical response from the Rangers all evening against the Canadiens, especially after the Canadiens turned the tide of the game in the second period with three goals. Look, I’m not advocating on-ice violence as a regular part of a team’s routine, but opponents have to have a little fear that the Rangers can be a mean bunch.”
