FINAL: Rangers 4 Flyers 2
11:11PM: The following quotes are from the Rangers:
- John Tortorella on tonight’s game…
“We found a way. It was a ground it out type of game the first couple periods. Nash steps up again in the third period, makes a couple big plays, and we found a way to win.”
- Rick Nash on playing at Madison Square Garden…
“That’s my job, that’s what I am trying to do. These fans are great. It’s fun for me to play in front of a sold out building in a hockey city that truly loves the Rangers. I think it’s fun for our whole team to perform in front of these fans.”
- Dan Girardi on Rick Nash…
“My theory is to give him the puck and let him do his thing. I just chipped the puck up the wall and he goes down and scores. It’s an easy game that way. He is such a dynamic player and he’s a game breaker. He had a couple of big goals there in the third period. That’s why we had to trade away a lot of guys to get a player like that. He has been big for us and I expect big things from him.”
10:09PM:
Three Stars:
- Three: Jakub Voracek
- Two: Ryan Callahan
- One: Rick Nash
Adam Rotter:
- That was an incredibly scary scene with Marc Staal. I think we all send him our best and hope that it isn’t nearly as bad as it looked.
- The Rangers acquired Rick Nash for periods just like the third period. Outstanding is probably an understatement.
- Ryan Callahan must love playing the Flyers.
- JT Miller was pretty solid and was getting important minutes down the stretch and when the Flyers pulled the goalie. That being said, the Rangers are extremely thin at center and they have to be thrilled that nothing serious seemed to come from Derek Stepan limping off the ice at one point.
- Every Ranger had at least one hit tonight
